A Beginner's Bicycle for Daily Use and Trick Mastery - Tribal Spear V2 20" BMX

A Beginner's Bicycle for Daily Use and Trick Mastery - Tribal Spear V2 20" BMX

The Tribal Spear V2 is a beginner-friendly 20" BMX designed for those looking to start in skateparks without investing in a high-cost bike. It features professional-style frame geometry and a selection of affordable components, giving you a riding experience similar to that of a more pricey BMX.

We have included it in a video guide, available for you to view here: Tribal Spear V2 video guide. This article delves deeper into the bike’s features and identifies the ideal rider for it.

Who is the Tribal Spear V2 designed for?

Marketed as an entry-level skatepark model, the Spear V2 is intended for riders between 4'8" and 5'8" tall. This makes it suitable for older children, teenagers, and smaller adults.

It caters to two primary rider types:

  • Riders seeking a bike for everyday use. The frame and components are designed to withstand the impacts of BMX riding, and the bike is equipped with a chainguard, road-legal reflectors, and both front and rear brakes. For road riding, our BMX road legal guide provides essential information you need to be aware of.
  • Riders eager to learn tricks. It's constructed to handle small jumps and basic skateparks, making it suitable for beginners without necessitating a more expensive bike.

Key features

Pro-designed frame. The Spear V2 features the kind of fit most professional riders prefer. With geometry tailored for BMX riding, learning small jumps on this bike should feel similar to doing so on a more expensive model. The frame includes a 20.5" top tube and a 75.5° head tube angle.

25/9T gearing. A 25-tooth front sprocket and a 9-tooth driver provide a better rear wheel and a smaller front cog. The smaller cog is beneficial for avoiding bumps against ramps, which is helpful when familiarising yourself with skatepark obstacles.

Wide 2.4" tyres. The wider tyres offer increased grip and cushioning, along with giving the bike a contemporary BMX appearance. The tyres prominently feature a large Tribal logo.

Threadless fork and taller handlebars. The threadless fork is a standard aspect of modern BMX bikes, and the taller handlebars are part of the same professional-style design as the frame.

One-piece reinforced crank and USA bottom bracket. These components provide a simple, robust drivetrain that suits a bike intended for heavy use.

Rear U brake. The bike is shown with only a rear brake, but it comes equipped with both front and rear brakes.
