Britannia Skate Park Inauguration - The Fresh Community Hub in Rowley Regis

On the 8th of March 2026, Sandwell Council celebrated the official opening of the revamped skate park, crafted and constructed by Maverick Skateparks. The initial launch was postponed in February due to snowfall, leaving many riders eagerly awaiting updates on the new date. Once the new date was confirmed and the weather appeared more favourable, SkateHut made its way to Britannia Skate Park armed with goodie bags and freebies, which included scooter grips, grip tape and skate wax, to join in the celebration.

Starting from 11 am, the ramps and rails quickly became a hub for enthusiastic riders. As the day progressed, more skateboarders and scooter riders arrived, putting the park to the test. Local talents showcased their skills, attracting an audience who marveled at the backflips and tailwhips. It wasn't long before more curious youngsters gathered to witness the impressive performances, while also collecting some souvenirs distributed by SkateHut.

What Was Involved in Constructing The Skate Park…

• The construction of Britannia skate park spanned nine weeks
• 210 square meters of concrete
• 44.6 cubic meters of concrete (107 tonnes), enough to fill a standard-size swimming pool.
• Over three football pitches (325.53 meters) worth of steel edges and coping were utilized.
