With Halloween a little over three weeks away, it's now perfectly timely to ride a board with a monster design. We've selected a variety of eerie designs skateboard decks from each of the brands we carry, ranging from classic film monsters to a skeletal hand that's been frightening people since 1983. Here's our selection, along with some details about their creators.
Hydroponic: Frankenstein and Werewolf
Hydroponic is based in Barcelona. It was founded in 2002 by friends who had spent a year studying in Australia, initially starting as a clothing label before moving into skate hardware. Nowadays, it produces everything from street decks to surfskates and longboards.
Their Monster series features two timeless figures. Frankenstein has a width of 8.5", while the Werewolf is 8.375", allowing you to choose both your monster and width. The Werewolf is the slightly narrower, speedier option, while Frankenstein provides a bit more board space beneath your feet.

The skull emblem and the punk and metal vibe have been integral to the brand ever since.
The Spellbound 30 Year Reissue revives an old Zero graphic to celebrate the brand's 30th anniversary. The name itself is fitting for October, and the black dip finish adds plenty of atmosphere. It's a team graphic instead of a pro model, focusing on artwork and an excellent all-around shape.

The Ripper is one of the most iconic graphics in skateboarding. Created by artist Vernon Courtlandt Johnson in 1983, it began as a "Bones Sold Here" dealer window sticker before appearing on t-shirts and then decks. This Lime Fade/White Ripper is manufactured at the Skate One factory with AirLam presses, known for being light, thin, and having the crisp pop that Powell Peralta decks are famous for.
