The summer of 2018 is shaping up to be a real scorcher, and it's about to get even better! We've compiled our favorite sports events and festivals happening this summer, so make your way to them and dive in!
NASS Festival, Bristol – 5 th -8 th July
The UK’s top extreme sports and street art festival is back for its 7 th year! NASS festival takes place in Shepton Mallet, just outside of Bristol, and features skateboard and BMX competitions alongside street art exhibitions throughout the weekend. With headliners like Dizzee Rascal, Run DMC, and Damian Marley, it's bound to be unforgettable!
Eastbourne Extreme, Eastbourne – 14 th July
As the only outdoor Roller Derby event in the UK, Eastbourne Extreme is set on the picturesque promenade of Eastbourne Beach, making it perfect for a family outing and some exciting competition! It's located right next to an Adventure Park, offering something for the whole family, so it's definitely worth making a weekend out of it!
Southbank Summer Jam, London – 14 th July
This year, Brixton’s Baddest Skateshop and Long Live Southbank are hosting Southbank’s Summer Jam. Head to the iconic skate spot to enjoy skate schools, best trick competitions, giveaways, music, and of course, top-notch skating. Plus, this event is a fundraiser to support the Long Live Southbank Restoration project!
The Revenge of Space Dinosaurs on Skates!, Loughborough – 22 nd July
Organized by the Leicestershire Dolly Rockit Rollers, this year’s Space Dinosaurs Roller Derby event is happening at Loughborough Leisure Centre. There will be two games: the first for rookie/intermediate levels, and the second open to all levels. Come and witness some thrilling action!
ScootGB Midlands Round, Leicester – 5 th August
This year, ScootGB’s Midlands qualifying round is hosted at Terminal 1 Skatepark, located just outside Leicester. Competitors will vie for a spot in the UK final, which will be held at the end of the year. Head over to Terminal 1 to watch some top riders in action, or even to compete yourself!
Boardmasters, Newquay – 8 th -12 th August
Taking place in Newquay, Cornwall, Boardmasters is the surfing equivalent of the NASS Festival. As part of the World Surf League qualifying series, top surfers from across the globe come to Boardmasters annually to compete on Newquay’s Fistral Beach. This year's lineup includes Catfish and the Bottlemen, Annie Mac, and George Ezra!
Godiva Festival, Coventry – 31 st Aug – 2 nd Sep
Celebrated as the UK’s largest free family music festival, Coventry’s Godiva Festival marks its 20 th anniversary this year. With headliners such as Jake Bugg and Ronan Keating, and more to be announced, there’s plenty to look forward to. Featuring a fun fair, craft village, and international food and drink stalls, Godiva offers something for everyone!
Unit3Sixty Skate Comp, Stourbridge – 8 th September
With a bowl jam, a pro/sponsored street competition, and live bands, Unit3Sixty knows how to host a skate competition. Come here to compete and win prizes, or stop by to watch and enjoy some top-tier skating action!
