What is Survival Of the Sickest?
This is an event designed for younger skateboardersSkateboard GB. It's a fun occasion that provides an excellent chance for aspiring skateboarders to compete in a welcoming environment. The event takes place over a single day at SBGB Hub Skateparks and is divided into two age groups: Under 16 and Under 12.
On Saturday, March 4, 2023, Survival of the Sickest was hosted at Graystone action sports centre in Manchester, attracting numerous skaters from across the UK, including Miriam Nelson, Olive Newman, Sebastian Lau, Corey Roper, among others. For several participants, it was their inaugural experience competing in such an event or attending a skate competition, so the opportunity to participate, make new friends, and enjoy a full day of skating would have been incredible.
The Survival of the Sickest event series is taking place over a span of 6 months. The first event of the series occurred atBaysixty6in London, followed by the second event atFlo Skateparkin Nottingham, and the latest event was organized atGreystone Action Sports Centerin Manchester. This event series was sponsored by brands such asTech Deck, Oakley, Fallen, Stance, Triple8, DC Skateboarding, andGrizzly Griptape.
The Survival of the Sickest featured four categories: U12 Street Boys, U12 Street Girls, U16 Park Boys, and U16 Park Girls.
The winners in the U12 Street Boys category were Jowan Richards in first place, Rory Buckly in second, and Corey Roper in third.
In the U12 Street Girls category, Ayva-mae Whittenbury took first place, followed by Lona Gordon in second and Dottie Kilenburg in third.
The U16 Park Girls winners were Caitlin Cox in first, Molly Seed in second, and Olive Newman in third.
In the U16 Park Boys category, Harry Reilly claimed first place, Lorenzo Ferrari took second, and Henry Turner came in third.






When Skateboard GB hosts its next skate event, we highly suggest participating. You will simply need a skateboard, and for footwear, we recommend Vans. It's important to stay safe, so remember to wear a helmet and knee pads, as falls are a part of skateboarding.
