Why do I need an 8-inch skateboard deck?

If skateboards followed the traditional sizing format, a skateboard with an 8.0” deck would be a medium – ideal for kids over 5ft tall, teens and adults.

This board width offers a lighter weight – nailing that sweet spot between being easier to flip and manipulate, and offering foot control and more room for error as you learn and pull more technical tricks. 

It’s what makes 8” deck skateboards so popular amongst teenagers and adults getting into skating. However, your characteristics should be factored into your choice – shoe size, comfort level and skating style.

If you’re getting into street skateboarding, a size 8” deck skateboard is the way to go. It makes learning and landing those satisfying flat-ground tricks (kickflips, ollies, shove-its, etc.) more manageable.
